Two Million Brass Terminal-Screw Assemblies for Door-Opener Controls
Table of Contents

A control module builder for garage door openers needed a brass terminal that came to them with the screw already installed. Their old supply delivered terminals and screws in separate boxes, and the line spent real time joining them by hand at two million pieces a year.
We stamped the terminal on a progressive die from pre-tinned #260 brass, then assembled the screw into the terminal in the same operation sequence. Tin-over-copper-flash plating was specified for solderability on the customer's wave solder station.
Outcome
- 2,000,000 assemblies per year, ship-complete: no secondary operation left at the customer's line
- Tightest dimension held to ±0.005 mm across stamping and assembly
- Weekly pull schedule; engineering feedback on drawing changes
Specifications
pre-tinned #260 brass · 0.8 mm gauge · Electrobright tin over copper flash (outsourced plating, incoming verified) · progressive die, 100% in-house tooling · MOQ from 10,000 pieces
